How much physical activity really helps

You always hear people say, “You have to exercise regularly to maintain your health.” But how much does sport really do for your overall health? Are the health benefits of sports really worthwhile? Can not you just eat better and still maintain your health? What are the real health benefits of sport, or is it just speculation based on heresy?

Here are some really good reasons to make sports a part of your healthy lifestyle:

Americans spend more than $ 600 billion a year on health care. That’s nearly $ 3,000 for every single person in the country’s entire population. Unfortunately, this financial commitment has shown no signs of reduction, nor has it yielded fully acceptable results in treating a variety of chronic health problems.

Attempts have been made to identify the factors that are today making a major contribution to the epidemic of medical problems in our society, and a number of likely reasons why so many people live as unhealthily as bad eating habits, sedentary lifestyle, stress, bad health habits (smoking).

At the same time, studies have been carried out to find out what can be done to reduce either the number or severity of medical issues affecting the public. These studies have provided some convincing evidence that physical activity has significant medical benefits for people of all ages. Two of the best known attempts to investigate the possible association between exercise and disease were longitudinal studies, each involving more than 10,000 subjects.

A few years ago, Ralph Paffenbarger, MD, in a study of 17,000 Harvard graduates, found that men who consumed 300 calories per day, equivalent to 45 minutes walking speed, reduced their mortality rate by 28% for all reasons, and on average lived two years longer than their sedentary former classmates.

A recent study, conducted by Steven Blair, P.E., of the Dallas Institute of Aerobic Research, documented the fact that a relatively moderate amount of exercise has a significant impact on the mortality rate of both men and women. The data were adjusted for age differences between subjects in an 8-year study of 13,344 people, and the conclusion was that the higher the fitness level, the lower the mortality rate. An analysis of the data from both studies suggests one conclusion … Movement is medicine!

To accept the idea that regular training can play an important role in reducing the risk of a medical problem and lowering the total cost of healthcare is a crucial step. While the list of all medical problems and conditions that can be at least partially treated and controlled through training is very extensive, here are some of the most important health issues and how training is always considered helpful.

Allergies: Exercise is one of the most efficient ways for the body to control a stuffy nose.

Angina: Through regular aerobic training, the vessels are enlarged and the blood circulation increased. This will improve your body’s ability to extract oxygen from the bloodstream.

Fear: Movement triggers the release of mood-altering chemicals in the brain.

Arthritis: Through movement of the skeletal joints, physical activity stimulates the formation of synovial fluid, which spreads over the cartilage and promotes circulation in the joint space.

Back pain: Exercise helps to strengthen the abdominal muscles and the lower back muscles.

Cholesterol: Training increases your HDL (the good cholesterol) in the blood and lowers your LDL level, the bad cholesterol.

Diabetes: Exercise lowers blood sugar excess and improves blood circulation

Heart disease: Exercising by lowering your body fat, lowering your LDL level, lowering your blood pressure, lowering your heart rate, and increasing the efficiency of your heart and lungs will lower your risk of heart problems.

Knee problems: Exercise strengthens the muscles, tendons and ligaments of the knee and makes it more stress-resistant.

Menstrual disorders and PMS: Training helps to control the hormone imbalances commonly associated with PMS by increasing the release of beta-endorphins.

Osteoporosis: Exercise promotes bone density and reduces the risk of fractures.

Overweight problems: exercise suppresses your appetite, increases your metabolism, burns fat and increases muscle mass.

Are the benefits of regular exercise really worth the effort? Should you make exercise a part of your lifestyle? Absolutely! As you can see, your life depends on it in many ways.
